Loryn Sheffner
FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL
Loryn Sheffner, Founder and Principal of Avenue, is best known to her clients as a trusted advisor and problem solver.
With over 20 years of experience addressing complex planning, policy, financing and real estate challenges, Loryn especially enjoys tackling projects with a strong public private partnership component and that result in mixed-use development, affordable housing, and/or the adaptive reuse of historic structures. Loryn also brings a special interest in community facilities and has advised on the development of landmark community health, recreational and arts centers.
Loryn has held senior project management and finance positions at Madison Park Development Corporation, Banc of America Community Development Corporation, and GLC Development. More recently, Loryn served in significant public sector roles, first as Associate Director, Public Private Partnerships for the City of Detroit, Housing and Revitalization Department, and subsequently for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM).
Loryn a graduate of Brown University and the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
Outside of Avenue Development, Loryn is proud to be the part-time Executive Director of the Kuehn Fellowship, a two-year Fellowship for early career professionals interested in careers in affordable housing and community development.
Loryn serves on the Board of Directors of the Architectural Heritage Foundation (Boston, MA) and Cambridge Boat Club.
An avid rower, Loryn is a former Member of the Board of Community Rowing Inc. and the Race Committee for the Head of the Charles Regatta.
